April 21 The Bible is the Word of God!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

These days, there is a lot of discussion about the authenticity and authorship of the Bible. There are those who say you can’t take it literally. There are those who say it is irrelevant. Some say it was written by humankind. Where do you stand? Do you know the Bible well enough to know? If you don’t know what it says, how can you have an opinion?

Paul wrote to Timothy to give him clarity about things concerning the Spirit and other things. Paul was speaking to Timothy about how a man of God is supposed to live. Paul was a mentor to Timothy as he is still a mentor to us today. In his charge to Timothy, Paul states that all Scripture is “God breathed” or given by His inspiration to those who recorded them. After all, Moses is the author of the first five books of the Bible and he was not there at the creation of the world. How is it that he wrote all the details of something he did not witness? Could it be that God gave him the information? Could it be that “All Scripture is God breathed”? The Bible is God’s Word, plain and simple! But here is the really good news. God’s Word speaks very highly of you!

Psalm 139 says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Jeremiah 29:11 says God has great plans for you. Ephesians 2:10 says For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.  Genesis 1:27 says So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? Ephesians 4:24 says And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.  Isaiah 43:25 “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. John 1:12 says But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God… Deuteronomy 14:2 says For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Wow, you are awesome! You are thoroughly equipped for every good work! It is incredible all you have going for you. And these are all gifts from God. You did nothing to earn any of it. You are incredibly blessed by His grace alone. So how does someone with all those blessings live their life? Shouldn’t you do awesome things? You have awesome talents. God thinks you are special. He gave you the right to be called His child. What will God’s child do today? I am confident it will be something extraordinary! Go for it!

Father, You said we are fearfully and wonderfully made. You said You had great plans for us. You said we are Your children. Help us to live as such and do extraordinary things this day that bring glory to Your name. In Jesus name we pray!
