April 29 It’s not my job!

Hebrews 13:1-3 (NKJV)
13 Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.

Working together with people we don’t know to serve others is a divine opportunity. Our team travels thousands of miles to La Entrada, Honduras where we gather with old friends and new team members. We are all there to serve the children of La Entrada in the name of Christ. With that in mind, we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

Hospitality was important in middle eastern cultures. It is still important today. Entertaining strangers you may serve angels. We don’t know each other but we serve in the name of the Lord.

In many work places, some take the attitude that “it is not their job” to do some menial task. Some people take the attitude that they are important and should not have to do the little things. It is the little things that really matter. Anyone is willing to do a job that offers recognition and fame. Not our team! Our team knows that we come to serve; not to be served. When we work with those God calls us to serve, the reward is from Him. He gives us peace and satisfaction. He blesses our work in the lives of the children. Where else can you go and make such a difference? Kids from this school have gone on to do great things!

Lord, thank You for giving us this opportunity to glorify You in the things we say and the things we do. Loving Your people is our job. Help us to see each person as Your gift to us. Just as You did not come to be served, help us to serve in Your name! In Your name we pray.
