April 30 Sing to Him Who Listens!

Psalm 68:4 (NIV)
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.

Do you thank God for all the little things you can do every day? Are you able to walk? Can you climb stairs? All these things are worth thanking God about. Let an attitude of gratitude flavor everything you do. Praise is a form of gratitude. It will make you happy. You don’t sing because you are happy, you are happy because you sing! Sing to the Lord a new song,

When you sing praises to the Lord, He hears you and will turn His face toward you. Praise God in all things and He will bless you and care for you. When you praise Him, he commands His angels to go out with you and pave the way for you. He has them build His hedge of protection around you to keep you from harm.

King Jehoshaphat knew this principle and put people to sing praise God at the head of their armies as they marched out against their enemies. They praised God for all He had done for them in the past and what He would do in the future.  2 chronicles 20 says “21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”  22 As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”

The battle was the Lord’s alone and He defeated the enemies of Israel. God heard their praise and it reminded Him that they were His people. It is good to remind God of His promises. As such, He defended His own! He did not choose this people for them to perish. He chose them to share His Word and reveal Him to the nations. In the same way, when you sing His praises, he will defend you. He is reminded that you are His, made in His image and likeness. He turns His face toward you and blesses you whenever you praise Him! How will you praise Him today? Will you praise with word or deed or song? Any way will do. God longs to bless you. In fact, He has blessings stored up waiting for your praise to release them to you. Will you be blessed today? He desires to bless you. Help Him by praising Him in all things! We are asked to pray unceasingly. We can do that through songs of praise and thanksgiving. Will you pray with me?

Lord, Thank you for everything! Thank you that we are alive. Thank You that we can work and have jobs. Thank You for your patience and forgiveness. Thank You for every good gift You have given us. Help us to praise You at all times in thought, word and deed! In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
