Day 3 What did you say?

Genesis 1:3-4 (NKJV)
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

Words are powerful! Once released, they take on a power all their own. Sometimes this is good and sometimes it is bad. In this case, God said it was “good”. God spoke the entire universe as we know it into existence with just His words. But when it came to the man (Adam), the Lord God formed him from the dust of the ground. And all those things range from good to very good.

Granted, God’s words are more powerful than ours but your words will influence your life. You are going to have what you say. Genesis 1:27 (NKJV) says “27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” You were made in God’s image and likeness. Likeness means that you are like God. He put many of His characteristics into you when he created you. How do you think He feels when you denigrate yourself? If you were to view a painting within earshot of the artist and say bad things about it, would it offend the artist? “What did you say?” was the artist’s question. What do you think God feels when you do not speak kindly of yourself. The Lord God is the ultimate Artist and you are His masterpiece. Have a little self-compassion. Speak the words that build yourself and others up. Words are powerful! Use them for good. God did and you are in His likeness!

Father, thank You that You spoke it all into being making it possible for us to live. Help us to see how special each one of us is to You. Just like Adam, You breathe Your breath of life into us. Let us use our words to speak life into ourselves and others. In Your name we pray!
