December 27 Love Right Through!

James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

Life is tough! There are a lot of challenges and much pain. We lose friends and family along the way. We face trials and tribulations. It is easy to get discouraged and feel like giving up in the midst of the battle. But don’t hide from the pain, love right through it. The things you face are there to make you stronger and refine you in ways that an easy life cannot. Trials are good for our character! I know you are already a character but this will still help.

James tells us to be strong and persevere through the trials. He tells us that a person will receive the crown of life. What is this crown of life? Jeremy Meyers (https://redeeminggod.com/what-is-the-crown-of-life/) tells us that The Crown of Life, however, is a reward for special acts of service and perseverance under trial. The Crown of Life is special reward for a special act of service and dedication to the King. It is not eternal life which is given to anyone who believes in Jesus.

There are all kinds of trials. People are entering and exiting your life, some by death. We think that it was providential that someone from a long time ago re-enters our lives and we are joyful. Some people are in your life for a reason; some people are in your life for a season. It is good when some leave. It is devastating when others leave without reason. We thought they were going to be a blessing but that is not the way it turned out. The feeling of loss at this time of year can be overwhelming. There were empty seats at our Christmas table. Are you feeling the loss too?

When loneliness or disaster strikes, which way do you run? Do you run to or away from God? Proverbs 18:10 says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” Since God is love, wouldn’t it be best to run to Him? Don’t hide from the pain, love right through it. When you run to the Lord, He will receive you and give you all that you need to stand firm in His love.

It is written that love never fails. Since God is love, He never fails you. Run to him for comfort and strength. He never slumbers nor sleeps. He is always there waiting for you to receive you and embrace you. Revel in that embrace! He will give you what you need to persevere. He will help you love right through!

How is it that you are always there for us Lord? Thank You that You give us what we need to stand firm in You. A mighty Fortress is our God. Run to Him for safety. He loves you and has your crown of life waiting. In His name we pray! Amen!
