Matthew 2:9-11 (MSG)
9-10 Instructed by the king, they set off. Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child. They could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place! They had arrived at the right time!
11 They entered the house and saw the child in the arms of Mary, his mother. Overcome, they kneeled and worshiped him. Then they opened their luggage and presented gifts: gold, frankincense, myrrh.
This morning, while listening to a Hillsong Worship service, I heard the words of O Holy Night in a new way. I have listed them here. “Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.” This was a whole new concept; an eye opener! When Jesus appeared, our souls began to feel their true worth. Listening to the song touches me. Music reaches places in the soul where words cannot go!
O holy night the stars are brightly shining, It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth
His Grace is amazing! By His presence alone, your soul can begin to blossom into the beauty He placed within you before the beginning of the world. Before His coming, we merely existed. After His coming, we now stand in the Glory of God. Everything has changed. In Christ, we are new creations. By His appearance we have come alive in Him. When He knocks at the door of your heart and you open it to Him, He will abide with you forever. His Spirit inside will make you glow. People will wonder why you are so joyful. Your soul will feel its worth.
He is looking for you. He wants to make your soul merry and bright. Tis the season. Open your heart and let Him in. Watch how those around you perk up in your presence because they can sense His presence in you! Merry Christmas!
Come Lord Jesus! Make us new creations in you. Push back the darkness in our souls with Your glorious light. In Your name we pray.
