November 8 Why do I write these?

Romans 15:4
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (NIV)

Why am I writing this? I want you to be encouraged. I have been inspired to do so! Our world is a dark place and evil abounds. Negativity is everywhere and people are losing hope. The suicide rate is up. Drug addiction is rampant. People are losing jobs and not being able to find another. Things are not looking good. I write because there are too many people unhappy and unfulfilled. Are you one of them? Walk with me as we learn, together, how much we are loved and how wonderfully we were made! Our hope is in the Lord!

The Scriptures were given to teach us the best way to go and to encourage us. A lot of bad things happen in the Bible but a lot of good endings are brought out of those things. God wants us to know that bad things will happen to good people. But He also wants us to know He will use them for our good. He shows us that He is able to make it all right in the end. Most importantly, He has already won the victory over sin and death for us through His Son. We are victorious through Jesus. There is hope!

I wanted to encourage you at a time when many need encouragement. In this world you will have trouble but, fear not because Jesus has overcome the world. No matter the situation, God has a plan for your good. If you will be patient and remain in faith, He will work out His plan. When it looks like there is no way out, God will make a way for you. He loves you that much.

I am in the same boat as you. I get discouraged. When I write down these thoughts which are given me, it helps me clarify my thinking. I am reminded of who I am and whose I am and what He wants for and from me and you. If you are like me (and you probably are), you are too critical of yourself. You have a tendency to forget your successes and amplify your shortcomings. Well be encouraged! As Ethel Waters said; “God don’t make no junk”! You are fearfully and wonderfully made. I hope these help you live with abandon and be a light in this dark world. Let me know how you do. I know you will do marvelous things.

This, however, is a daunting endeavor. I feel the call but I am not always sure I am up to the task. I doubt myself. Pray for me also, that whenever I write, words may be given me that I might fearlessly proclaim the Gospel. Pray that I might be equipped, strengthened and empowered to run this race and manage to accomplish the task to which I am being called. Let me know if and how these words are helping you. Let me know how I can pray for you. God loves you and so do I! Be blessed!

Caution! Writer: Anything you say may be used in a story.
