What Do I Say?

1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

What if someone asked you about your relationship with Christ? What would you say? Many people I know are not prepared to share their faith with others. Peter tells us we are to always be prepared to speak with people about the hope we have in Christ. Most are not! Are you?

Do you have a relationship with Jesus? When you wake up in the morning, is there music in your heart? Is there a spring in your step? Do people wonder why you are always so happy? If not, why not? In the song Multiply by NeedtoBreath, it says God’s love is like radiant diamonds bursting inside us, we cannot contain. Is God’s love bursting inside you? Do you have trouble keeping it inside? That is a good thing. It will let you live the life God intended for you. He wants you to be excited and happy. He came that you may have life and have it abundantly. Would you like to live an abundant life on every level? That is what He wants for you. If you live that kind of life, do you think people will notice? When they ask you why you are so happy, what will you tell them? Since I know you want to live the abundant life and I know people are going to ask about why, shouldn’t you prepare now to give them an answer? After all, the abundant life is coming.

How can you learn what to say? Firstly, it is just a conversation. What is your story? Your personal story of who God is in your life and how you feel about Him is what to share. It does not have to be complicated. Just tell people about how you felt before and how you feel now. Second, there are courses and resources to help you frame that story.

In my life, I have developed a patience that astounds me. I have learned to speak with love. I have learned to see things that I could not see before. I hear what is behind what people are saying. God now reveals things to me I would have never noticed before. I have an attitude of gratitude that flavors my whole life. How about you? What’s your story? Can you share the story? That is all you need do. Be real! Be honest! Be who God made you to be! Be you! You are awesome!

Lord, thank You that you offer us an abundant life. Help us to share with others all the blessings You have given us. Make us bold to tell others what You have done for us. Give us the words and the opportunity to speak them. In your name we pray. Amen!
