What Shall We Do?

Micah 6:6-8 (NKJV)
With what shall I come before the Lord, And bow myself before the High God?
Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old?
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Our sin is great! For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). But does that mean we are beyond redemption? Not at all! God worked out a plan of redemption before the beginning of the world. And His plan will not be thwarted. His love for you is beyond your comprehension. Even you can’t mess it up.

So how can you pay for your sin? In the times of Moses, God established a sacrificial system where animals could be sacrificed to atone for the sins of the people. Hebrews 9:22 (NKJV) says “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission [of sin].” So something has to die to atone for sin. Since all of us sin, a lot of animals have to die. But God did not want for all these animals to have to be sacrificed. It is His will that we live better lives. He has given us an example to follow in Jesus. The example is to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God. To be courageous men and women of God. Do you think you are capable of this on your own? I know I am not. That is why God provided a way for us to be redeemed through the sacrifice of His Son. Jesus, the perfect sacrifice, bought our redemption at a very high price. He gave it all so you can walk with your God. Do you walk with Him? Do you show mercy to those God loves? Do you seek justice for God’s creation? It is not sacrifice that God wants but love! He wants you to love Him and love who He loves. He has placed His love inside you. He has written His word on your heart. If you love, will you be just? Will you be merciful? Will you share the love He has given you? If so, you will be able to walk humbly with your God. Will you start today? Be courageous for Him!

Father, we thank You that You have given us all things and have made the way clear for our redemption. Let Your Spirit remind us daily of Your love that we are supposed to share with others. Help us to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with you. In Your name we pray.
