Proverbs 31:10-17 Selected (NIV)
10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
I have been called a character but do I display character? Many do not understand the value of character. The value of a person who is faithful and who will do what they say is above most things in life. In fact, I would rather have a person of character in my life than wealth. Solomon chose wisdom over wealth. I would choose character.
Proverbs speaks about a wife of noble character and how her worth is far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her. She is a trusted life partner. My Sister-in-law is a wife of noble character. I have known Sandy for more than 45 years and she has always been a blessing to my brother. They have been married 44 years, raised two wonderful boys and now enjoy 5 grandchildren. Sandy invests a lot of time in her family. She spent a lot of time with her sons and it shows. They are raising great children of their own. You reap what you sow. If you sow character, that is what will result.
What example are you setting for those around you? Do you bring value to your relationships? Are you a person of character? You were created with all the seeds necessary to be the person God created you to be. God has written His word on our hearts so we can follow His wonderful ways. You have everything you need but it won’t be easy. Do you want a life of integrity? Do you want to raise children of character? If so, you need to walk in God’s ways. He is with you. All you need do is ask and He will help you. You are not alone in this quest.
Today is Sandy’s birthday and a reminder of a woman of noble character. If she can do it, you can too! Walk with the Lord today and He will put a crown of righteousness on your head also!
Lord, thank You for women of character. Thank You that You are willing to walk with us all leading us in the way we should go. Help us to hear Your directions and follow. The world calls us astray. Draw us back to You. In Your name we pray! Amen!
