What will you reap?

Ephesians 6:7-8
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

God will not be mocked! People think they can do things and get away with it if they are careful. When Adam and Eve sinned, they tried to hide from God. God is omniscient and omnipresent. You are not hiding from Him. Even though He asked “Adam, where are you?”; He knew. He also knew what they had done.

What goes around comes around is the worldly expression. Ephesians says you will reap what you sow. With that in mind, shouldn’t you sow good things? The golden rule says “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Isn’t that a good way to live your life? What about this sow to the flesh vs. to the Spirit. There is a difference between worldly and Spiritual things. Being in the flesh is our sinful nature with greed and selfishness leading the charge. Being in the Spirit is working in the way God calls us to go. It is doing things according to God’s will. Being in God’s will is always the best for us as it leads us closer to Him. God has blessings He desires to pour into your life. Living in the Spirit will release those blessings. So what do you want to reap? Are you interested in corruption or everlasting life? Remain in the Spirit and reap the benefits. God has more blessings than you can ask for or imagine waiting for you when you walk with Him! It is the best way to go.

Today, as you go through the world, spread goodness, kindness, gentleness, self control and patience. Greet people with a smile. Learn your server’s name and use it when you thank them. Notice people and make them feel important. Ask how people are doing and really listen to the answer. You could be part of someone else’s miracle. How will you find out if you don’t pay attention? Go out to be a blessing. If someone doesn’t have a smile, give them one of yours. That is living in the Spirit. That is loving God’s creation. That is sowing in the Spirit and the benefits you will reap will last forever.

Lord, we want to live a life that will bring glory to You. Many will mock us for following You. Strengthen us that we may walk in Your ways no matter what the world thinks. Help us to sow seeds of grace, compassion and love so that we may reap the same. Pour out Your blessings upon us. Draw us closer to You that we may live with You forever. In Your name we pray! Amen!
