1 Peter 5:6-9 (NKJV)
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
The devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. That means that there are those whom he may not devour. I wonder what makes some people devourable and some people not undevourable? We are going to try to figure that out together. I know I want to be undevourable! I’m thinking you might also.
In a conversation with a brother today, I was reminded that Satan [which means deceiver] has access to heaven. In the book of Job, Chapter 1 says, “6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.” He has full access to the world and to Heaven. So he goes “to and fro” seeking those who are not wearing their full armor as it tells us in Ephesians 6:10-20. Here are the Lord’s instructions: “13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” If you need the step-by-step, you can go to your Bible and read verses 10-20. That is what we are called to do. To stand in His power wearing His full armor. That will make you undevourable.
Satan may prowl around all he wants. He also roars to scare you. But if you are in Christ, all you need to do is stand. The enemy has no power over you. Ignore his roar. He is a toothless lion. The battle, which is the Lord’s, is over. Christ won it for us. Satan cannot devour you! Praise God!
But what if you are not sure you are in Christ? Maybe you need to recommit. What if there is still a god-shaped hole in your heart? Christ is willing to come and fill it. All you need do is ask Him. Just say Lord Jesus, thank You that You love me. I need you. I am a sinner who can only be saved by Your grace. Come into my heart. I ask you to be my Lord, Savior and Friend. In Jesus name we pray.
