Titus 3:5 (NKJV)
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Can you do things all on your own? Are you an independent person? Many people think they are self made. They tend to think they are the captains of their own ship and it is all up to them. The older I get, the more I realize how little control I really have. I am much better off when I wait upon the Lord.
In Paul’s letter to Titus it is not our works but His mercy that gives us our salvation. Further, we are saved by the washing of regeneration. We are renewed by the Holy Spirit who is constantly guiding us in our walk. When the Spirit guides us in the way we should go, it always goes better.
In our own strength and power, things are limited as to what we can do. When we open our hearts and minds to the Lord, He will give us all the wisdom and power and resources we need to reach the destiny He has planned for us. Mark 10:27 (NKJV) says 27 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” So do you want to do it on your own? Or would you like to go the easy way and walk with the Lord?
When I try to do things on my own, I stress over things and try to make everything perfect. And with that stress, there is anxiety. The journey is not enjoyable. When I relax and let Him lead, we go along without me worrying. I enjoy the ride. Don’t you want to enjoy the ride? Then let Jesus be the captain of your ship. I was presenting a class at a national Real Estate convention. At the time, I thought I was in charge and I made things happen. I needed to eat quickly so I could get to my next class but couldn’t find an open seat. A seat appeared next to a gentleman with whom I got a contract for training for the next two years. I thought it was luck but is appeared out of nowhere. Looking back, it was God’s plan, not mine, that was in play that day. It was His grace that led the way.
Lord, please guide us in the ways You would have us go. Regenerate our minds in You. Help us to relax and be renewed by Your Spirit. Help us to trust Your leading. May we always be guided by Your Spirit and remain in Your grace. In Your name we pray. Amen!
