Hebrews 3:12-14 (NIV)
12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
Do you ever get down? Do you notice some of your friends being a little negative or discouraged? Most of the world is discouraged. It is time we do something about that. It is time we encourage one another.
In our culture, it seems to be fashionable to denigrate one another. We use sarcasm and barbs in our conversation. We think it is funny but it does not build each other up as we are supposed to do. Hebrews tells us to encourage one another daily. Who was the last person you told how much you appreciate them. Did you thank the server when they brought your food? Did you take the time to listen to a friend who seemed a little down? Did you even notice?
One of the best things I have ever done is told my best friend I loved him before he passed away. He told me the same. Don’t let opportunities slip away. Tell people you love them. Tell them you appreciate them. Tell them that they matter. Tell them you believe in them Take the time to notice those around you. Use your words to bless people. Speak blessings, love, encouragement, and every good thing into the lives of your family, friends and all those with whom you come in contact. Be a blessing. Be an encourager! Do it now while it is still today!
Lord, You always tell us how much You love us. Help us to tell others we love them. Teach us to lift others up in Your name. Give us the gift of encouragement. In Your name we pray!
