Psalm 134:1-3 (NKJV) Praising the Lord in His House at Night
134 Behold, bless the Lord, All you servants of the Lord,
Who by night stand in the house of the Lord! 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the Lord. 3 The Lord who made heaven and earth Bless you from Zion!
Presbyterians (of which I am one) have sometimes been called the Frozen Chosen. They sit in the pews and listen to the message with little reaction most times. You would never hear an “Amen” from this crowd. In fact, they usually have to sit in the same place in Church each week. We usually sit in row 19 on the right. Do you know what you get when you cross a Presbyterian with a Jehovah’s Witness; you get someone who stands on your front porch and doesn’t know what to say! But seriously folks!
I attend the traditional Worship with my wife but I also love the contemporary Worship with all the music and activity. At our Church, we also serve Communion each week. This adds to my joy in coming to Worship. David has told us to lift our hands up to the Lord. When you are before God in a corporate worship situation, why not praise Him with everything you have? Sing, make music and lift your hands to the One who has given His very life for you! Psalm 103 says Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! When I hear the music, my hand goes up in the air by itself. I point to Him who blesses me! Go ahead! Don’t be afraid. Really get into it. Bless the Lord with all that is within you. It’s OK to even raise your hands to Him! Acknowledge Him as the object of your Worship. When you raise your hands to Him, He will bless you from Zion!
Lord, thank You that You give us the chance to praise and worship You for You are worthy. Let us experience the joy that true Worship can bring. Help us to know Your blessings which you have stored up for us in our hearts. Release them to us as we raise our hands in praise to you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
