Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah reveals God’s plans to do a new thing. He revealed to Isaiah the He was going to do a new thing. This new thing is to bring the Israelites back from captivity in Babylon. This is good news for them. But not everyone thinks something new is good. Many dislike change.
Many people are saddened when something comes to an end. In most cases, an end of one thing can be the beginning of another. Most times, God has to end the thing in which you are involved or you will never move to another thing. Most of us will not let go of what we have. Is it fear? I’m not sure.
About eight years ago, we were at another Church. Some awful things happened which caused our Pastor to leave. We were devastated! So much so that we ended up leaving that Church. Here is the thing. Nothing short of that disaster would have gotten us to leave that Church. There were many things there that we knew were not right but we were not hearing God’s call telling us it was time to go. He had to do a new thing to get our attention. Only in this case, it wasn’t a good thing. Or so we thought.
But God usually turns His new things into good things. It may take a while for the good to become evident. At first, it seems we miss what we had. But in time, we see why God has done this new thing. It took eight years for us to find the place to which we were called. How do you handle the new things God sends into your life? Do you pout because things have changed? Why not be patient to see what God is doing in your life? When we face new things, we don’t always like the change. God has a plan for you, to prosper you, to give you hope and a future. We know that God works all things for our good. Why not wait and see how His new thing will turn out?
Lord, thank You that You always work all things for our good. Please give us the patience to wait and see how your New Things will turn out. Help us overcome the fear of change. Help us to know that new can mean better. In Your name we pray!
