1 Corinthians 1:18
“For the message of the cross is FOOLISHNESS to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God … in the wisdom of God, since the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the FOOLISHNESS of the message preached to save those who BELIEVE.
Easter time brings us once again to the celebration of the foolishness of the cross. YOU GOTTA BE A FOOL to believe the message of the cross and the message of the gospel – God coming to die on a cross for us. Yeah, right? Why would He do that? It seems utterly ridiculous. No one would do that or would they?
It is incomprehensible that God would do what He did for us. But the proof is in the death and resurrection of Jesus. He did that for us. So on this day of Pranks, I want you to know the message of the Cross and our redemption is No Joke! God loves you enough to give Himself up for you. He paid a painful price to ransom you from sin and death. You are that special and important to Him.
Then there is this story about the atheist holiday. An atheist became incensed over the preparation for Easter and Passover holidays and decided to contact the local ACLU about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while the atheists had no holiday to celebrate. The ACLU jumped on the opportunity to once again pick up the cause of the godless. The case was brought before a wise judge who after listening to the long, passionate presentation of the ACLU lawyers, promptly banged his gavel and declared, “Case dismissed!”
The ACLU lawyer immediately objected and said, “Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? Surely the Christians have many observances as do the Jews and yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!”
The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said “Obviously your client is too confused to know about, or for that matter, even celebrate the atheists’ holiday!” The ACLU lawyer pompously said: “We are aware of no such holiday for atheists. Just when might that be, Your Honor?”
The judge said, “Well, it comes every year on exactly the same date — April 1st!”
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” — Psalm 14:1
You’ve just been pranked but with some seriousness involved. I hope I got at least a little chuckle out of you. Enjoy the day, laugh a lot and be blessed. God loves you and so do I!
