Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)
6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Variants of courage appear 23 times in the Bible. Strong appears 36 times. Apparently, God wants us to be strong and courageous. But that is not always easy to do. We get scared that we cannot handle the situation. We worry. Worry is a tool of the accuser. God tells us in this verse the He is always with us. He is our Helper. Romans 8:31 says “if God be for you, who can be against you?” God is for you.
Are you lonely today? The Lord will never leave nor forsake you. The Lord will walk with you wherever you go. Even knowing that, we still sometimes need human companionship. We cannot see God so we think He is not there. What about having another person walking by our side? It makes things easier. I have always said that two people working together can accomplish as much as five people working alone. Today, my Pastor stated the he was working alone as the other Pastors were out of town for various reasons. I reminded him of my offer to help with the services any time he needed with the caveat that anything he wanted me to read be at least 18 point font. He worked alone because he did not ask. Do you ask for help? You have not because you ask not (James 4:3). Why don’t you ask? What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail? If you ask others to work with you, between you all (or y’all), you will have all the talents and experience you need to succeed. You will not fail!
In the Footprints Poem, the person asks God why he was alone at the most trying times of his life since there were only one set of footprints. God replies “It was then that I carried you.” God is always there to carry you when things get tough. God goes before you and with you always. He is your Helper, your Friend, your Provider, and your loving Heavenly Father. He wants the best for you and will lead you to it if you let Him. Are you alone? You may be physically but not Spiritually. The Lord Your God goes with you and holds you fast with His righteous right hand. Rest secure knowing you are loved and never alone!
Lord God, thank You that You are always with us. Help us to be strong and courageous in the face of the opposition we face each day. Remind us that You are for us and we can stand by Your power. Use Your love to drive out our fear. Let Your Spirit remind us of that love always. In Your name we pray! Amen!
