Psalm 139:17-19 (MSG)
17-19 Your thoughts—how rare, how beautiful! God, I’ll never comprehend them!
I couldn’t even begin to count them any more than I could count the sand of the sea.
Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you! And please, God, do away with wickedness for good!
What does Happy Hour mean to you? Happy Hour has a special connotation in our culture. It is late afternoon/early evening time in a bar or restaurant where they have reduced price drinks and food. It is a way that the hospitality industry markets to draw people in to their establishments. But for me, it has a completely different meaning.
Sometimes, at night when I am going to bed, I check the settings on my opportunity clock. It has two wakeup settings. The second one is always set to 7 am. I don’t always set the first one which is usually 6 am or earlier. Many times, I will ask the Lord to wake me if He wants to talk. Often, I wake out of a sound sleep at 5 on the dot. It is the Lord calling. I know He wants time with me because He woke me just as I asked Him to do. Psalm 63:6 (NKJV) says 6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. I pray before I close my eyes and wake up often with a song of praise or a Psalm on my lips. He is with me. My family members are not morning people. Our house is quiet early in the morning. I have my place on the couch where I sit and open my Bible. I read Our Daily Bread, a Psalm and then begin my prayers. This is a time of peace for me. It is God’s Rest! He calls me to Him. I am not good at being quiet so this is a special time for me with the Lord. This is the Happy Hour I look forward to attending.
How about you? What does Happy Hour mean to you? What is the happiest hour of your day? Are you spending time with your Lord? He is willing and waiting. All you need do is ask Him to wake you. You eyes will just open and you will be wide awake. Find your way to your prayer spot or try several places out to see what works best for you. Spending time alone with the Lord will be your happiest hour too! Just try it! It will renew, refresh and redeem you. God can give you a sense of peace you will not find anywhere else. Just spend some time with Him. He will remind you that you are His and you are fearfully and wonderfully made because He is your Creator. You are His and He loves you. This quiet time will allow you to learn all the wonderful things He has in store for you. It will give you a chance to learn which path He wants you to follow.
Good morning Lord! Thank you for this day and every day. Please call me to time spent with You. We need You in our lives to love, lead and guide us to the destiny You have prepared for us. Quiet our hearts and connect them to You. When we abide in You, we are at our best! Hold us close and speak to us through Your still small voice. Give us ears to hear and open our heart to Your leading that we may walk with you. In Jesus name we pray.
