Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of God stands forever.
Isaiah tells us that the only constant truth is the Word of God. All else fades away. But these days, people are trying to change the Bible only reading the parts that they like. The Bible talks about things that we are to do and a way of life that pleases God. It is discipline and most of us don’t like discipline. But are we to only follow the parts we like? Will we have a fruitful life if we do what we think is best? The Old Testament calls that “doing what’s right in our own eyes.” Whom do you want to please; man or God?
Ephesians 4:15 (NKJV) says “15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ….” If we know that someone is not following God’s word and is headed for trouble, should we tell them or mind our own business? We always run the risk of offending someone when we point out their departure from God’s will. But should we just let them go? Isn’t it our duty to speak the truth in love? Many churches water down the Gospel to make it more palatable to people. The Gospel is offensive to those who are perishing. God wishes that none should perish. With that in mind, I am supposed to speak the truth as kindly as I can but it needs to be the truth. Know this! God loves you enough to give Himself up for you. But you still need to follow His ways for your own good. His Spirit will guide you in His ways.
Lord, thank You for Your truth. Your Word is truth. Help us to know Your Word and speak its truth in love to those who need to hear that truth. In your name we pray! Amen!
