Genesis 1:1-2 (NKJV) The History of Creation
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Did you ever wonder how the world was created? Are you one of those people who thinks we evolved from lower life forms and we just transformed. Darwin’s theory of evolution tries to tell us that we evolved from lower life forms. My friend Fred says “If we are descended from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?” Good point Fred! Why are there still monkeys? I guess there is a big hole in Darwin’s theory. The biggest hole of all is God. You see, “all Scripture is God breathed” so we know that God created the heavens and the earth because His Word says so.
Do you believe that God created the heavens and the earth? This is a very important question for you to answer for yourself. What do you believe? I am going with God! I believe Him. Science has proven more about the Bible over the years than disputed it. People ask how someone with intelligence and a scientific mind can believe these stories. It is called faith. Hebrews 11 says “1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Faith is belief in God and what He says. It all starts with God and the knowledge that He is good. Everything He has done is for your good.
How do we know the Bible is true? It is full of stories of imperfect people in all their folly. If you want to write a cute story, you would make all the pieces fit the theme and leave out the bad parts. After all, every story needs a hero. Archeologists discover things over the years which confirm what the Bible says. The Dead Sea scrolls were lost for about 2,350 years. When discovered in 1946, they revealed the exact same story as our current version of the Old Testament. This shows the story was preserved accurately for more than two thousand years. God has preserved His Word to us.
So, how shall we live? We should follow God’s Word. Its precepts bring about good things. The fruits of the Spirit will lead us to happiness and joy. The Ten Commandments will sustain us in good relationships. All of the Bible will bless us! Do you want to be blessed? If so, read and follow God’s Word. Walk with us through The Story.
As Joel Osteen teaches at Lakewood Church, “This is my Bible. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do. Today, I will be taught the Word of God. I boldly confess my mind is alert, my heart is receptive and I will never be the same, in Jesus name.”
