Isaiah 61:10 (NKJV)
10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Isaiah was fully aware that he did not have righteousness on his own. Neither do we. But God clothed him in the garment of salvation. God offers that Garment to you; to me!
John 19:23 (NKJV) says23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. I believe that the garment, the tunic, they removed from Jesus at the cross was the robe of righteousness. Now that garment is available to you and me. Jesus provided us with the covering that allows us to come before the Father in righteousness. The price He paid for us to stand before the Father was high. Jesus gave His all for us. He gave the ultimate sacrifice that we might be called children of God. And that is what we are.
Are you a follower of Jesus? If so, He offers you His Garment of righteousness. If not, why not? With this garment, all of the bad things you have ever done are covered. Knowing that, how should you live? You are justified. That is “just as if you never sinned”. Should you stand tall? Should you be bold? Because of this garment, you are holy, righteous and redeemed! For God so loved you that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). He did that for you and you are covered in the blood which this garment symbolizes. This love for you is beyond comprehension. But it is real and it is true. Live as one who is redeemed. Love others and tell them of God’s love for them. His love is what clothes you. Know that you are wrapped in righteousness!
Lord, we cannot fully comprehend all You have done for us. Amazing grace, how can it be, that You my God would die for me. Help us to accept that grace and begin to understand all we mean to You. Let us focus on You and become more like You. Help us to live as redeemed in You. In Your name we pray!
