April 22 Look to the Promises!

Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

What did God say in His Word? He made many promises to us. In Genesis 22:18, God promised Abraham that the whole world would be blessed through him. When God promises something, He comes through. God’s Word is also the Bible. There are hundreds of promises in the Bible and God says His word will not return to Him empty. So, can we trust God’s promises? Do you trust God?

When God speaks, things happen. He said “let there be light” and there was light. But how does that relate to us today. Since God made so many promises, He will fulfill them. According to one person’s count, there are 3573 promises in the Bible. A key to note is “it [God’s word] shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” God’s promises are to prosper you. He wants good things for you. What does God want to accomplish in your life? Jesus said that He came that we might have life and have it abundantly.

What does an abundant life look like? Is it money? Is it fame? Or is it joy, peace, and relationships? That is a struggle that I face daily. For what should we strive? The Bible says to “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” Does that mean we should not look to earning a living first? It is unclear. It seems to me that God is saying if we seek Him and walk in His ways, He will provide for our needs. That doesn’t mean we sit and wait. We do need to work at our chosen profession. But God wants to bless you. He has stored up blessings that He will release into your life if you remain in faith. You must believe these blessings are coming your way. There is a saying that says “you bring about what you think about.” What are you thinking? Are you saying I am blessed? I am healthy? I am prosperous? Or does your life reflect another vision? What do you see in your mind’s eye and speak out over your life? May I suggest that you use your thoughts and words to change your life? Know that God loves you and wants to bless you. Give Him the chance! Speak out blessing today. I am blessed. I am prosperous. I am healthy. I am loved. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! Today, live as the child of God you were born to be. Live with abandon and shine His light in this dark world. Then, your life will have more meaning than you ever dreamed.

Lord, thank You for the abundant life You have brought to us. Help us live for You today with abandon, trusting You for all our needs. We know that when we follow Your lead, all things work for our good but the journey is scary. You stretch us to grow into Your dreams for us. Give us peace as we know you love us. Help us to remain in faith and grow into Your blessings! In Jesus name we pray.
