April 29 Answer to a Higher Authority!

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NKJV)
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Do you compare yourself to others? How do you measure up? What is the standard by which you determine the quality of your work? Are you trying to please yourself, others, your employer or your God?

Many people determine that they are doing well by comparing themselves to others. I am a lot faster than Joe. I am smarter than Mary. So what is the standard? Are Joe and Mary the standard? Should you compare your performance to theirs? Have you been given the same gifts? Will you be judged on a curve? God’s standard is perfection. What if we compare ourselves to Him? Where does that leave us? Would you be feeling good about yourself if you were graded on His scale? Fortunately, God does not require perfection from us. He is patient with us asking us to be like Christ. He has set a good example for us in His Son! By His Spirit, He will help us to live according to His standard.

Today’s verse tells us to do everything “all to the glory of God.” It is all about attitude! The question is sometimes raised of how long have you been working for this company. The answer is “ever since they threatened to fire me!” Many people only work when the boss is watching. You work for a “higher authority.” He is always watching! He never slumbers nor sleeps. If you work unto the Lord, will you do an outstanding job? You know the kind of work He wants. He wants you to bring glory to His name. Everything matters! Whatever kind of work you do, work to please God and not people! You will be assured of being far and away the best “you” that you can be! Don’t be one of those people who says it is good enough. “Good Enough” is rarely good and seldom enough! Seek Ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you. Today, make God as proud of your work and your service to Him and others as He is of you. You are anointed, blessed, gifted and talented. Share those blessings with those you meet today! Do it now!

Lord, thank you for this day and every day. We have another chance to bring glory to your name with the work of our hands and the words of our mouths. Direct our steps in Your ways. Give us the words we should say. Help us to speak, to be kind and loving to all your children. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
