Bring Forth Good Things!

Matthew 12:33-37 Selected (NKJV)
33 “…….for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things……. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Be careful what you say and how you say it. Your words are powerful. Also, many are watching you to see how you live. They want to see how followers of Almighty God live and behave. You have a chance to speak blessings into the lives of others. Will you do it? Where will those blessings come from? They must come from your heart.

Today’s verses (which include one of my life verses) speak about your speech and its source. It tells us that that source is what is in our hearts. What type of speech do you want coming out of your mouth? If you want it to be wholesome and edifying, what would need to be in your heart? Would good thoughts need to be in your heart? Would you have to get rid of all rage and bitterness? When the stresses of life press in on you, that which is in your heart will come out. You cannot hide your true feelings. What is inside of you will come out. You can be the encouraging person God made you to be. The Holy Spirit will help you. I have an anger problem. I get angry about the silliest things like the drawers not being closed. I am asking God to remove this from me so I can be more of a blessing to my family. He is helping me to put less emphasis on things that don’t really matter. What do you want to lose? If there are things within that scare you, ask God to take them away or give you the tools to lessen them. The Potter will remake you if you are willing to get back on His wheel! What is in your heart? Do you like what you see? You are not stuck with who you are. You can change or, more accurately, God can change you. Ask for help and He will answer.

Lord, you made us in Your image but sometimes that image gets tarnished. Please polish us so we can be more like You. Help us to get back on Your Potter’s wheel so You can remold us to be the blessings You intended for us. We cannot change on our own but You can change us. Change us Lord! Make us more like You! In Your name we pray. Amen!
