February 12 I can’t do this alone!

1 Peter 5:6-9 (NIV)
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Does it sometimes seem that you have more things to do than you can manage? Sometimes we face challenges that are beyond the knowledge we have. You feel unable to manage. There is a voice in your head that tells you will never be able to accomplish your goal. It looks like more than you can do. At least, in your own power. But that’s just it; you don’t have to do things in your own power. You can cast your anxiety on Jesus. He loves and cares for you and will help you. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.

Peter is warning us about our enemy. He warns us that the devil is on the prowl for someone whom he can devour. He tells you to resist the evil one. Do you think you have that power? If you do, you are mistaken. The only way you can resist is through Jesus power. Ask Jesus to be your shield.

The biggest thing that prevents you accomplishing the things in front of you is you! Something in your mind tells you that you cannot do it. The enemy does everything in his power to distract you from your goals. All he need do is whisper and you begin to doubt. He does not have to prowl too far to make you think less of yourself. How will you handle him? Will you give in to doubt? You shouldn’t! He that will help you with the challenges will give you the strength to stand your ground. Faith in God gives you His Spirit which can help you stand firm. God is for you. Who dares be against you? You are His Masterpiece. Let no one doubt you. Make sure you don’t doubt yourself.

Lord, we look to You for our strength. Remind us that You are for us and walk with us. Be our shield and protect us. When we doubt, remind us that we are Yours made in Your image and likeness. Help us to be like You. In Your name we pray! Amen!
