Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
God created you in His image and likeness. What does it mean to be in the likeness of God? Much of it is to be like God; to have some of His attributes. In fact, you were given the seeds of most of God’s attributes. You were made to be in your place and time. You were given the gifts and talents you would need to run the race set out before you. You are one of a kind. As Zig Ziglar would say, “You were designed for accomplishment, engineered for success and endowed with the seeds of greatness.” You are God’s Masterpiece.
“With all that going for me”, you say,” how come I am not more successful?” How do you define success? Is it all about the money? Is “show me the money” you catch phrase? Success is different things to different people. God has a plan for you. Maybe money was not the dominant idea in His plan. He knows what you need better than you do. He has laid out a race for you that is specific to the gifts and talents He built into you. Will you use those gifts? How will you run that race and will you finish strong?
Also, we were created to do good works. The Bible says you will know them by their fruit (Matt 7:16). You can tell a lot about a person by looking at the work they do. What is the quality of the work? What kind of work is it? Do they volunteer a lot? God has ordained work for us to do. Doing this work will bring personal satisfaction. When I finish a project or solve a challenge, it makes me feel really good. Isn’t it interesting to know that God planned these projects for us in advance? It is all part of His plan to highlight the gifts He has placed within you. You are one of a kind. You are amazing. You are God’s handiwork and He made you perfect for His plan. You are His Masterpiece. Work within God’s plan by asking to do His will. Ask His Spirit to lead you in the race He set out before you from the beginning of the world!
Father God, we thank You that You have a plan for our lives. It is good to know that You care so much that You establish the work of our hands. Thank You for the gifts and talents to accomplish Your plan. Bring us to where You would have us be so we can carry out the race that will take us closer to You and bless one another. Help us to achieve our destiny which will be our praise to You! In Your name we pray!
