November 9 My Help Comes From You!

Psalm 121 (NKJV)
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Do you think you can do things alone? Our culture teaches us we are independent but I doubt that. I used to think I could do things in my own power. With that came the responsibility of success or failure. It was all on me. I have come to lean on the Lord instead. With Him, all things are possible.

David told us where to look for our help. He knew the Lord was with him and would help him. We need to understand that truth. The One who made heaven and earth is poised, ready and willing to help us in whatever we need. All He asks is that we call on Him.

I need to learn lessons from David and rely more on the Lord than myself. I have a friend who has muscular dystrophy. She is a great example of how to live by faith. In fact, watching how she lives by faith inspires me to do better. She requires help with many things which she cannot do on her own. She has learned to rely on others and her faith. She is having surgery to help with some issues. Her life will be in the hands of doctors and nurses and her caregivers once again. The level of trust involved in this surgery is immense. I am not sure I am up to that level but she is. She inspires me!

What is your challenge? To whom do you look for encouragement and inspiration? Do you know someone of immense faith? Don’t get me wrong. Even with strong faith, things seem scary. Doubt can creep in at any time. But when you look into the Light of our Lord, shadows disappear. So where will you focus your eyes? Focus on the light and darkness will run and hide. You can be held in the palms of His hands and carried through the valley. Put your faith and trust in the Lord and He will carry you through!

Lord, thanks that we can trust You to carry us when we cannot carry ourselves. You promised that You would never leave nor forsake us and you never have. Even when the clouds gather, those who wait on You can see the calm that comes after the storm. Carry us through the storms of life safely under Your wings. In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
