Whom Shall We Follow?

Acts 4:18-20
18 So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

In the passage above, Peter and John are in front of the Sanhedrin being grilled because of their teaching. The religious leaders don’t want them speaking any more about Jesus. These are the leaders of the people. Shouldn’t Peter and John listen to them? But what do they say? Those two rascals decide they should listen to God and not man! How about you? To whom do you think you should listen?

We come to many crossroads where we have to make tough decisions. The world asks us to do a lot of things that it wants us to do. We are offered fame and fortune. Luke 4 says Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. …… and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” He will offer you all kinds of things too. Yes, there are people who go the way of the world and culture. But you need to follow your God to be truly blessed.

When you stand at the crossroad of a big decision, how will you make the right decision? What is your motive? The world will plant fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD). God has always revealed Himself as the One having a good plan for your life. He has always been faithful. For thousands of years, He has lead His people to victory. Isn’t that the way you want to go? How do you go down God’s path? By digging deep into His Word and doing what it says. The Bible is an instruction manual for a blessed life. It has the answers, then and now! Your choice is to lean on your own wisdom or follow God’s ways. When the world tells you that you can’t, God says you can! Are you facing a big decision currently? What voice will you follow? You decide!

Lord, thank You for this day and every day. Thank You for Your Word which gives us the information to live a life pleasing to You. Help us to hear Your still small voice of Your Word. You have always offered us blessings for obedience. Show us Your way in the tough decisions we face today. Help us to make the right choice, Your choice. In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
