2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Sometimes, you have to wonder if it is all worth it. This life is a struggle. We often face challenges that overwhelm us. The business world is always asking for 110% when we are having difficulty providing 100%. It makes you want to just give up and hide. Does it seem that way to you too?
We are told not to lose heart; not to get discouraged! Why not? Because our hope is much larger than the current situation. We all face challenges. These difficulties are used to refine us; to build our character. Sometimes, I want to tell God I am already enough of a character and not to refine me so much. The issue for us is that we cannot see the benefit at the time. All we see is the pain. If we only look at this present moment, it overshadows everything. But, if we view it in light of eternity, this too shall pass. We are getting older and cannot do the things we used to do. We are slowing down. But our Spirit is drawing closer to Glory. You will endure through each challenge because of the One who upholds you. You will overcome each challenge if you remain in faith. Mandisa wrote a song called Overcomer. That is what you are!

How do you remain in faith? By fixing your eyes on the One who will upholds you with His righteous right hand! He who promises is faithful. By focusing on Jesus, the true light of the world, you will not see the shadows and hear the voices that say you’ll never accomplish this. Jesus will tell you that you can do all things through Him. Don’t let the burden of the moment blind you to the glory that awaits those who stay in faith. You’re not going under! You will prevail. Your future is sure in Him! Earth’s troubles fade in light of Your glory!
Lord, thank You that You are always faithful and always there! Help us to remain focused on you. Carry us through the deep waters and bring us safely to the other side. The side where we will bask in Your presence. Uphold us in our struggles today. In Your name we pray!
