May 9 Am I Old or Young?

Joel 2:28 (NKJV)  God’s Spirit Poured Out
28 “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.

I have both dreams and visions. These writings are visions from the Spirit. Does that mean I am old or young? I choose young in the Lord. The Lord God has blessed me in many things. As a visual person, I see complete pictures of tasks to which God calls me. In fact, they flash up in my mind’s eye so quickly that I have trouble grasping the whole concept right away. And just as easily, I can lose them. I must record them as quickly as I can or risk loss.

God tells us, through the prophet Joel, that He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh. God promised His Spirit to us almost 1000 years before Christ when the Holy Spirit came upon the Disciples at Pentecost. He who promises is faithful! So what does it mean to have His Spirit poured out on all of us? In John 14, Jesus tells us 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  We are told the Spirit will teach us all things. If you are like me, you will receive dreams and visions of the things you are to learn. Jesus goes on to tell us that the Spirit will remind us of all He has taught us. Think about that. Do you realize how much information you already have? It is not lack of information that is the challenge; it is recall of that information. Jesus’ Spirit will “bring to your remembrance” all things He has taught us. Is that good or bad? Sometimes, we do not want to be reminded of things we are supposed to do.

What dreams and visions has God already sent to you? Are they scary and overwhelming? Do you doubt you can accomplish them? Do you hope they will go away if you ignore them? God speaks to each of us in different ways. It is usually through that still small voice. You can choose to ignore it or you can be open to the Spirit’s leading. I would ask you to be open to the calling. God can do great things through you! You are His masterpiece and He has already given you all the gifts and talents you need to accomplish the destiny He has ordained for you. Please, let nothing stand in the way of your destiny. God is for you! Who can stand against you? Nothing in all creation can keep you from your destiny except you! Which way will you decide today? Are you for or against “you”? God is for you! Why not side with Him and be who He called you to be?

Lord, help us to embrace the visions You have for us. You have great things planned for each of us. You said were are fearfully and wonderfully made. You said we are Your children. You said we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Help us to hear Your voice today, the Voice of Truth. By Your Spirit, help us today to be the victors You created us to be. In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
